BIOPHRONESIS.
forma anónima a tres árbitros.
BIO-PHRONESIS
.
Journal of Bioethics and Socioanthropology
in Medicine.
BIO-PHRONESIS is a journal issued once every six
months and addressed to health professionals as well as any other professionals
dealing with bioethical issues within the frame of the interdisciplinary essence
characteristic to this matter. As indicated in the name of the journal, its main
aim is to contribute to the development of a kind of medicine focused on the
human being, taking into account their cultural dimension. Man is both nature
and culture, and therefore health and disease constitute historical and social
processes involving collective responsibility. Thus, the practice of medicine in
connection with clinical research must be carried out within a broader frame
than the biological one, embracing at the same time that cultural dimension
closely intertwined with life.
According to these ideas, one of our goals is
to offer a place for debate and thoughts about topics which involve some kind of
moral conflict, always present in the medical practice and research, a conflict
that is growing steadily together with scientific and technological advance,
among other things.
We also emphasize the plural nature of our journal,
knowing as we do that the belief in the respect of differences is a sine qua non
of democratic life.
Also, we would like to develop a rigorously academic
bioethics, that is, a bioethics based on critical thinking and the argumentative
support of the statements put forward.
Lastly, the electronic means that we have chosen aims
to facilitate access and interchange of information, both on a national and
international ground.
Frequency
of publication
BIO-PHRONESIS
, Journal of Bioethics and Socioanthropological Medicine, is published
once every six months. Every issue includes five papers and up
to four reviews. The yearly publications are due on December 1st and
June 1st.
A double-blind review will be
used as a selection criterion. The originals will be sent anonymous to three
different reviewers. For the assessment a guide will be used, whose main
criteria will be quality and originality of the theses presented, sound
argumentation, accuracy of the data and pertinence and relevance of the topic in
connection with the characteristics of the journal.
The original may be 1) accepted;
2) accepted, but with minor changes; 3) sent back for revision
and correction; 4) rejected. This will be decided by simple majority
by the jury. The reviewers will be anonymous and respect the confidentiality
of contents.
